Performing
I've always enjoyed music and have a very wide and eclectic taste, from Mahler to Meatloaf. I learned the trumpet at school and did a Higher Music on it, playing in the Glasgow Schools First and Second Orchestras, and the Glasgow Schools Concert Band. I also went to Germany and Iceland with the Glasgow Symphonic Wind Band.
When I went to Glasgow University I joined the Cecilian Society, a musical club which performed G&S and operetta at the Kings Theatre, eventually becoming club president. Eight ex-Cecilians went on to form Cadenza, a small cabaret/concert group and we sang together for many years, putting on our own shows at Eastwood Theatre and singing in many bowling clubs, halls and even Glasgow City Chambers. We sang songs from the shows, "easy-listening", barbershop, and I did a few of the arrangements.
